THE LEGACY
GENESIS
In 2012, MarQuis Black set out to create more just clothing; he aimed to spark a movement. What started as design effort for friends evolved into a grand vision, drawing inspiration from icons like Eazy E, N.W.A, Wiz Khalifa and "Taylor Gang,"
Jay-Z, and YE, along with the fusion luxury fashion and art showcased in the iconic "Watch The Throne" album, as well as rise of A$AP Mob. Recognizing a lack of streetwear brands led by creative Black voices, he sought to disrupt the dominance of mainstream labels and establish something authentic, rooted in culture.
"The notorious empire"
MarQuis has always been driven by raw authenticity, influenced by the legendary business mogul Eazy-E. Inspired by the iconic group N.W.A., he sought to build his own empire. Partnering with artist and classmate Jordan Portis, he transformed the classic Raiders logo associated with N.W.A, infusing it with an urban edge, leading to the creation of "The Notorious Empire." This pivotal moment at just 18 years old shifted his identity from designer to businessman and revolutionary, establishing him as a trailblazer in Ohio's streetwear culture.

STYLE STITCHED FROM SURVIVAL
MarQuis, lacking generational wealth or formal training in fashion, forged his brand through sheer determination and hard work. Drawing on self-taught skills and inspiration from his great-grandmother, he cultivated a passion for upcycling and screen printing, which sparked a bold streetwear movement. Recognizing that the fashion industry demanded resources and capital, he committed to hustling harder to stand up against major corporations.
MarQuis built his dream from the ground up, driven by ambition and passion. Faced with industry barriers and personal responsibilities, he turned to the streets to fund his vision. In 2013, the unexpected loss of his mother tested his resilience and led him into a period of deep depression and dark period of his life. After years of healing, MarQuis has redefined his brand, embracing the evolving fashion landscape with renewed confidence and a fresh vision.

REDEMPTION
In 2018, MarQuis's passion for art and fashion transformed after watching a compelling interview by Icon/Mentor, Supreme Bey. Captivated by Bey's minimalistic elegance and Luxurious Lifestyle, MarQuis boldly rebranded from "Notorious Empire" to "Made by MarQuis" in 2020, delivering timeless essentials that blend lounge and luxury streetwear. His mission was clear: to empower consumers to feel confident and stylish in any environment. With an eye on a global audience, MarQuis fearlessly redefined his brand once again in 2023 emerging as The Iconic Legacy MarQuis BlaQue.
